Lexus GX 460 vs 550: How has the GX changed?

Many people were thrilled when they heard that the GX 460 would be getting upgraded. The good news is the GX has been fully updated and is quite impressive; however, the GX 460 no longer exists. As of the 2024 model year, the GX is now only available as the GX 550. Lexus has updated the body, gone to a more powerful engine, and added plenty of new tech for the 550. It seems fitting then that the number would increase given all the additional upgrades to the GX. As an official Lexus GX dealer, we have seen the changes of the GX over the years, and this is by far the most impressive to date. A full-size luxury SUV that feels just as comfortable off-road as it does on the road is quite a unique offering, and the GX delivers. We're here to discuss changes to the GX inside and out. Continue scrolling to learn about the powertrain options, new features, and style changes Lexus has made. If you're in the Brookfield, WI region, stop by today for a demonstration and free test drive of the GX 550.

Lexus GX: seating options

The GX offers seating for up to 7, but depending on trims and optional upgrades, this can vary. Both the Overtrail and Overtrail+ trim levels forgo third-row seating for additional cargo space. For the most part, anyone looking at the GX as a family SUV will be more inclined towards the Premium or Luxury trims anyways, as the Overtrail is geared toward off-road performance. Both the Premium and Luxury trims have the option for a second-row captain's chair, which adds a great deal of comfort at the expense of one seat. Take a look at some of the great seating options the GX has to offer:

  • Lexus Memory System for driver's seat, outside mirrors, and steering wheel
  • Heated and ventilated front seats on all trims

The GX boasts plenty of storage, including a center console, door pockets, and up to 12 cupholders. The GX even offers a place to keep your drinks cold in the front center console with the available Cool Box. The total cargo space does vary depending on the GX's trims, as the premium and luxury trims have three rows, but the overland has only two rows and is geared for extra storage.
